Day 1 – Yangon
You will be met at the airport by our English-speaking guide, and transferred to your hotel in Yangon. Relax and enjoy the comforts of your hotel or take a walk through the bustling streets, the afternoon and evening will be at your leisure. Overnight – Best Western Green Hill
Day 2 – Yangon
This morning, go on a cultural walk through downtown with your guide. Explore some of the many British colonial buildings, while your guide explains a bit about their history. In the afternoon, make your way to Aung San Museum, and take a walk around the magnificent Kandawgyi Lake, otherwise known as the Royal Lake. As evening approaches walk around the beautifully lit Shwedagon Pagoda, the countries most important monument. Overnight – Best Western Green Hill
Day 3 – Yangon – Bago – Hpa-an
After breakfast hope in the car and travel to the nearby ancient capital, Bago. The drive will take 2 hours. Visit the Shwe Man Daw Pagoda and Shwethalyaung Reclining Buddha in this bustling town. From here, continue on towards Hpa-an, a further 2 hours drive and check in at your hotel. Overnight – Hpa-an Lodge
Day 4 – Hpa-an
This morning, there is the option to climb Mount Zwekabin, located close to your hotel, the top of this iconic site gives 360 degree panoramic views of the flat plains below. Other then this, you will also visit Kyyauk Kalat Pagoda, precariously positioned on top of a limestone outcrop in the centre of a beautiful body of water. Following lunch travel to Saddar Cave, which takes 30 minutes to walk through and is scattered with Buddha images. A canoe ride will bring you back to the entrance. Overnight – Hpa-an Lodge
Day 5 – Hpa-an – Mawlamyine
After breakfast, board a boat which will take your to the old colonial town of Mawlamyine. The boat ride will take you through the heartland of Kayin State, and is a great way to view rural life in Myanmar. Upon arrival in Mawlamyine, walk down Strand Road, on the coastal front, enjoying the sunset over the sea. Overnight – Cinderella Hotel
Day 6 – Mawlamyine
This morning, take a boat trip out to Bilu Island (Ogre Island). You will visit a coir-weaving workshop and other cottage industries, before a refreshing pit stop in a local teashop on the way back. In the afternoon make your way to Kyaikthanlan Pagoda, this immense pagoda, built in 845 AD, overlooks the city from high above in the hills. Overnight – Cinderella Hotel
Day 7 – Mawlamyine – Golden Rock
Enjoy the morning at leisure, to relax at the hotel, or explore Mawlamyine by yourself, walking in the footsteps of George Orwell and Rudyard Kipling. After lunch, get in the car and make your way to Kyaiktiyo (Golden Rock). Overnight – Golden Sunrise Hotel
Day 8 – Golden Rock – Yangon
This morning, wake early and take one of the trucks up to the top of the mountain, just in time for sunrise. A magnificent sight with the awe inspiring Golden Rock in the foreground. After many photo opportunities, descend the mountain just in time for breakfast at your hotel. Following this, transfer back to Yangon. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure. Day 9 – Yangon – Mandalay – Pyin Oo Lwin
Take a morning flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival, transfer by car to Pyin Oo Lwin, an hour and a half trip through lush green rolling hills. Upon arrival at this old British hill station, enjoy the rest of your day at leisure. Overnight – Hotel Pyin Oo Lwin
Day 10 – Pyin Oo Lwin - Hsipaw
Wake early and make your way to the local train station. From here, board your train to Hsipaw, and travel along one of the world great rail journeys across the Gokteik Viaduct. The journey will take around 8 hours, travelling through the magnificent Shan countryside. Upon arrival in Hsipaw have the evening at leisure to explore this quaint town. Day 11 – Hsipaw
Wake early and make your way to the local train station. From here, board your train to Hsipaw, and travel along one of the world great rail journeys across the Gokteik Viaduct. Day 11 – Hsipaw
For breakfast, make your way to a local teashop to try the national dish mohingya. A local trekking guide will meet you here, and take you on a days trek around Myanmar. Walk through paddy fields, up hills, through local villages and past waterfalls. Lunch will be served at a local families home. In the afternoon, make your way back to Hsipaw by canoe, along the river. Overnight – Riverside @ Hsipaw Resort
Day 12 – Hsipaw – Mandalay
Enjoy the morning at leisure, to explore some of the nearby sights, including the morning market, the local hot springs, and “Little Bagan”, a small pagoda complex providing great views over the town. Following lunch, get in the car and make your way back to Mandalay, arriving in the evening. Overnight – Yadanarpon Dynasty
Day 13 – Mandalay
Following breakfast, enjoy your morning exploring some of Mandalay’s historical buildings including Shwenandaw Monastery, the only surviving original structure in Mandalay following bombings in World War Two, and Mandalay Palace. After lunch, board a cruise to Mingun, 2 hours upstream. Mingun Pagoda is a truly awe inspiring structure. Built on a vast scale but never completed, the trip is well worth your time. Enjoy a barbecue dinner on the riverbanks before your trip to Mandalay. Overnight – Yadanarpon Dynasty
Day 14 – Mandalay
Close to Mandalay, you will find three further ancient capitals, and today you will go on a tour exploring each one. Start the day with a visit Amarapura, where you will find the famous U Bein Bridge. Following this make your way to Inwa, where you will be taken around by horse cart, before ending your day at Sagaing. There is a magnificent sunset view of Mandalay from the summit of Sagaing Hill here. Overnight – Yadanarpon Dynasty
Day 15 – Mandalay – Bagan
Today, board a relaxing cruise along the Irrawaddy River to Bagan. Enjoy the slower pace of life, while observing rural life along the banks of this great river. Upon arrival in Bagan, head to your hotel and enjoy the rest of your day at leisure. Overnight – Bagan Lodge
Day 16 – Bagan
Bagan is one of the most important archeological sites in the world, and today will be spent exploring the temples with you knowledgeable guide. In the evening, hop on a sunset cruise along the Irrawaddy River to cap off an extraordinary day. Overnight – Bagan Lodge
Day 17 – Bagan
There is the option this morning of taking a hot air balloon ride over Bagan at sunrise. This truly memorable experience is a highlight for all who come to Myanmar. The morning will be spent exploring some of the lesser-known pagodas of Bagan, before returning to your hotel for lunch. You will be left to your own devices in the afternoon, to further explore Bagan, or relax by the hotel’s pool. Overnight – Bagan Lodge
Day 18 – Bagan – Moun Popa
Following a leisurely breakfast, join your guide for a trip to Mt Popa, situated an hours drive from Bagan. Climb this extinct volcano, for panoramic views across the plains below. Many Nat shrines now adorn the mountain, providing an eerie ascent to the summit. Overnight – Popa Mountain Resort
Day 19 – Mount Popa – Kalaw
Enjoy breakfast overlooking the plains below at your picture perfect hotel. After enjoying the pool, make your way back down the mountain to your awaiting car. Today you’ll be going on a journey right through the heart of Myanmar to Kalaw. On the way, stop off at various teashops, and villages to explore and interact with some of the locals. Day 20 – Kalaw
Today, you’ll be out in the fresh air for the majority of the day, as you make your way to Green Hill Valley Elephant Sanctuary. Feed, interact, and bath the retired elephants here, a truly rewarding experience. You’ll also be able to plant a new tree in the sanctuary, a lasting memory of your time here. Day 21 – Kalaw – Ine Lake
Following a good nights sleep, today you begin your trek through the Shan mountains towards Inle Lake. Your local trekking guide will meet you at the hotel and explain the route. You will make your way through local ethnic villages, over streams and high into the Shan mountains. Tonight, you will sleep in a local family homestay, where you can chat with the homeowners, and learn much about the local way of life. Overnight - Homestay
Day 22 – Kalaw – Inle Lake
Continue your trek, making your way gradually to Inle Lake. You should arrive just after lunchtime. Enjoy a well earned lunch on the banks of Inle Lake, before getting in a boat and making your way across the lake. You’ll pass some of the many floating gardens and villages on stilts as you head towards your hotel. Overnight – Sanctum Inle Resort
Day 23 – Inle Lake
A full day on the lake, spent with your guide, exploring the many wonders by boat. Visit some of the local workshops where the best silk in Myanmar is made, and silversmiths work hard at creating beautiful works of art. Following lunch, head to Indein village, located on the South side of Ine Lake and famous for its many stupas. Overnight – Sanctum Inle Resort
Day 24 – Inle Lake
Today, you will be supplied with bicycles, to make your way around the lake using a different mode of transport. Your guide will lead the expedition. Gradually make your way into the surrounding hills, and find a picnic laid out for you, for an incredible lunch overlooking the lake. Make your way back to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure. Day 25 – Inle Lake – Yangon – Depart
The perfect way to end your tour. Wake at the crack of dawn, and take a balloon ride over Inle Lake. The views are absolutely breathtaking. The ride will take just under an hour, and will undoubtedly be the highlight of your trip to Myanmar. Return to your hotel, and make your way to Heho airport for your flight to Yangon. Transfer to the international airport for your flight home.
